Mrs. Alfred Hennings and her baby died from burns after a man, Mr. Henning, attempted to start a fire with gasoline in their home. An explosion occurred when a second pour ignited flames. Mr. Henning survived in critical condition. The bodies were taken to Carrington for burial amid arrangements with Mrs. Hennings' relatives.
Mystery surrounds the death by burning of Mrs. Wm Maderia and her infant child at a farm home sixteen miles south of Napoleon N D. The husband was away. a hired man went to a nearby store for sugar and returned to find the house aflame. Neighbors arrived but the house was consumed and the second floor filled with flax. Some say the floor collapsed burying the victims. others believe the mother rushed back to save the child. Ashes found in debris.
Maria Wecht filed for temporary alimony and fees from Franz Brecht, a Glen Ullia district farmer, claiming cruel treatment. Defense showed she left in 1912 and returned after paid $3,000. Judge Hanley denied the temporary alimony pending the divorce.
Ed Golden a colored man was found guilty of second degree murder for the shooting at a negro dance hall in this city. The jury after a long deliberation returned a verdict at 11 a m and Judge Leighton sentenced Golden to five years in the penitentiary. The defense was led by Bradford Nash and B R Binkler with aid from the state attorney's office.

Hettinger county district court jury awarded $1,500 damages to Christ Ernst of Leith after his son was struck and killed by a train at a crossing of the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul Railway near Leith. Costs totaling about $1,400 were allowed.

Rev Franklin H Hewn of Jamestown a former Methodist pastor filed an eighteen page certified affidavit with Governor Frazier accusing former Governor Hanna and other state officials of ignoring pleas for justice and abandoning him to criminals. He alleges repeated abuses including tampering with rain barrels wheels harness and property damage while naming Jamestown and Stutsman county as targets and claiming a booze criminal network. He seeks state record inclusion but no action has been taken yet.
In Dickinson North Dakota two men named Joe Kuntz faced Judge Folson after the south side resident signed for a liquor shipment at a freight house, provoking a complaint from the owner of the other Kuntz who claimed misdelivery. Both men were held to district court on $200 bonds. one had no order for the shipment. It is the first such case in the region under the strict prohibition law.
Lakota March 8. A 14 year old girl, daughter of Mr and Mrs Matt Arvill, left home to ride the school wagon to a Brookert band concert. She became lost and was found frozen to death two miles from home, four miles west of Brookert.
Jacob Weinberger a Mandan farmer faced assault charges after a confrontation with schoolteacher Miss Randahl who boarded at his home. George and Raphael Barth reportedly visited her. when Weinberger threatened them George Barth beat him. Weinberger pleaded guilty to a prior charge, was fined and ordered to pay costs, and the present trial concerns the assault claim by Miss Randahl.
In district court at Minot North Dakota W A Beardsley sued Drs Ewing claiming malpractice for eye surgery delay and damages. The jury awarded 7933 to Beardsley after a trial that lasted nearly three days with bitter contest. Attorney Geo H Phelps of Burke Abstract Co. left for Mohali and Sherwood to pursue Masonie leadership duties.
