In Williston North Dakota on July 12 a Watford City child born with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot had two fingers and two toes removed from both hands and feet. The operation was done without anesthetic and drew interest from onlookers and spectators.
In Dickinson North Dakota on July 12 Leo F Davis of Belfield joined Company K of the North Dakota National Guard. After weeks in camp the man chose home life over service and fled the camp. His father pursued and captured him after a ten mile chase, returning him to Fort Lincoln where a severe penalty awaits.
The Gilman case jury ruled William Geffrey died from gunshot wounds inflicted by Martin Gilman during a beer party at Gilman’s home near town. Gilman remains in sheriff custody as the investigation continues.
Freeman Curtis, a Broadway township farmer in Cooperstown North Carolina, was attacked while sleeping. A near miss left his forehead cursed by powder, while his housekeeper awoke to his cries and saved him. A lone hat abandoned at the scene is the only clue. Curtis had attended a dance the previous night.

Bramarck North Dakota July 12 Mrs George Dixon left a hospital bed to be with her murdered husband in Wilton as Officer George Dixon died from stab wounds at age 27. The suspect Joseph Kullher, a coal miner, fought with the officer after a dance hall disturbance and was jailed for the night before being sent to county prison. Dixon leaves a widow Jessie Monier and three children, with a family extended in Wilton and Garrison. The tragedy stunned the village and follows prior warnings to Kullher about trouble at the Keifer hall.
In Regan North Dakota Bob Wilkinson reports his cow produced no milk for ten days despite normal milking. He left town and had pasture watched for 48 hours. no one approached the cow and still no milk. Local fears revive old cow country tales of bull snakes and tango lizards.
