A man wandering in subzero cold near Watford City North Dakota was frostbitten on both hands and taken for care. Doctors suspect mental illness and the county board has sent him to the state hospital for treatment. identity believed to be Charlie Hughes, residence unknown.
Minnewaukan North Dakota January 20 Earl Raymond aged 26 of Perham Minnesota confessed to burglarizing Olson drug store Tuesday night taking 200 dollars worth of morphine and 250 dollars in jewelry He aimed to steal only dope but took rings after breaking in by forcing a front door glass and a spring lock He was found in his room partially under the influence of the stolen drugs and blamed his drug craving for his downfall.
Arthur Hileman stood mute at a preliminary hearing and was bound over to district court in 2000 dollars on a charge connected to the Blakey Roell block fire. A reported motive involves a basement massage service and a drunken man who was doused with wood alcohol then set alight, causing a blaze that spread through the building. The blaze ruined the house and much of the contents with an insurance claim of about one thousand dollars.
Marie Jerrog Henderson, seeking to nullify a divorce obtained for fraud, argued she manipulated her attorneys and court to aid her husband Frank W. Henderson in an embezzlement defense. The North Dakota Supreme Court held that her consent to the decree to help her husband bars challenges to its validity, especially after his remarriage. The district court dismissal of Henderson’s suit against his ex wife was upheld.
Dickinny N D January 20 Several weeks ago a man listed as Chas Osborne was hired on the Mark Ambrust farm in Duon county. After Christmas Ambrust fired him for heavy work. The man allegedly forged two local bank checks for 14 and 18 cashed in town, following dismissal.
Wyndmere North Dakota January 20 4 terrible accident on Geasel farm when a worker removed an endgate rod and it pierced the pelvis and intestines. The man showed grit by removing the rod and getting to town for medical help. Attending physician Dr Wilder says the victim’s life hangs by a thread. He was nearly alone on the farm with a Geshel child nearby. Condition did not improve by the time of going to press.
George H. Faber, in a drunken state, fired three shots at his sweetheart Mrs. Covanack at 21 Eighth Street North. One bullet hit her breast, another grazed her side. She was taken to St John’s Hospital, where she is under Dr. Nichols care. Faber was arrested at the scene. a revolver was later found in the Cornack home. A sister of Mrs. Covanack fired at Faber but missed. The alarm sounded. the shooting occurred earlier today. the victim’s condition is reported serious but potentially recoverable.
Mandan North Dakota January 20 a farmer and his wife questioned legitimacy of two children after a man and his friend obtained a marriage license and were married by County Judge J C Johnson. Investigation showed the couple believed the license and ceremony completed a marriage. The belated bride and groom are Russians.

Born in Norway she immigrated 1889 with her parents, lived in Belgrade and Burke County, worked in R B Cox and Blenkner stores before moving to a Montana homestead near Rudyard. Funeral at Norwegian Lutheran church in Coteau, interment at Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery west of Coteau.
District court convened in Bow hells with Judge Leighton presiding. Juline Carlson requested a change of venue in a case alleging attempt to kill Martin Helseth near Laréon. the request granted for the next Minot term. Floyd and Will Elgic faced charges of grain theft with not guilty pleas. multiple witnesses testified for the defense. jury deliberated after 2:30 p.m. and returned a verdict at short time.
