Pioneer merchant Blenkner dies after long illness
Herman C. Blenkner a Bowbells pioneer and early merchant died at his home after a stroke of paralysis following a 22 year locomotor ataxia battle. Born July 23 1856 in Mannheim Germany he immigrated to the United States and worked in St Louis St Paul Barnesville Oakes Minneapolis before settling in Bowbells in 1898 building the first business there. Survived by wife and four sons with funeral rites held by the Magonic Lodge and burial at Bowbells cemetery amid many mourners.
