Grain Thieves Near Sherwood Reported
N Dy February 7 1924 near Grover township twelve miles southwest of Sherwood a theft of about 200 bushels of wheat from the S H Sleeper property at the Dudley place was uncovered last week. Ralph Taute O R Walker and Carl Olson investigated but found little evidence. Faint tracks in old snow suggest the theft occurred a month or more ago. Mrs J E Emerson Dies Sunday
Mrs. Mary L Jones Emerson wife of J E Emerson of North Star township died at her home Sunday morning at 530 after a brief illness from cancer of the stomach and complications. Born July 11 1867 in Freeborn Minnesota she was the daughter of a late father who died in 1907. She came to Burke county in 1900 with her husband and family and had eight children six boys and two girls surviving with only one infant son dead. Funeral was held at 10 am Wednesday at the Emerson residence with Rev D Samson officiating and burial in Bowbells Cemetery. Her death is mourned by family friends and the entire community.

He may face federal action under the Mann white slave law for taking a girl across state lines for immoral purposes. Auten allegedly lived with Miss Sadie Wood and claimed a marriage in Minneapolis. The Wood family alleges no ceremony occurred and the warrant was sworn by the girl's brother in law E B Mitchell.
