William Miller, formerly of Bowbells, is held by district court authorities on a burglary accusation. He faces formal charges after investigation. details indicate alleged entry at a Bowbells residence and related property theft, with prosecutors preparing arraignment.
In Ambrose a safe at Darling's drug store was burglarized for the third time this winter with about $40 and a gold watch stolen. Will Miller, a former Darling employee, was arrested after stolen goods and a store key were found on him. He waived exam and was bound over to district court for trial. Miller formerly worked at Hartman jewelry in Bowbells for over a year.
Friends fear Howard T. Booker, manager of Ward Fruit Co. in Minot, may be in the mountains on the Mexican side after his Jan 18 departure from Minot. He planned to travel via Grand Forks, the twin cities, Chicago, Memphis and New Orleans to El Paso, where his parents live, and the last word heard was en route from New Orleans to El Paso.
E C Mahoney plans a mid March sale of all personal effects including stock farm machinery and household goods before moving away from Bowbells. He believed he was cured of rheumatism at Till hospital but says his condition worsened and he must seek treatment again. Fred Andrews traveled to Minneapolis to fetch his wife who had been visiting relatives in Chicago and returned with her Tuesday afternoon.
Judge Leighton convenes special term starting February 27 to clear criminal and select civil cases. District court draws jury from precinct lists. Notable docket includes the murder case of Oscar Benson and pigging charges, with numerous State v. defendants listed for trial.
A special school election is set for Saturday February 25 in Bowbells township to decide moving the school house from the southeast quarter of section 14 to the southwest quarter of section 12. Polls open 2 PM close 5 PM. All interested in the removal or retention should vote. Also notes Maude Harrington left for Hillsboro to visit parents and will travel to Hot Springs Arkansas to visit sister Mrs. R. B. s0X.
A high court appeal by Dale facing possible incarceration must be dismissed before any prison term. the action halts further legal proceedings and delays sentencing. Local officials note the court's dismissal clears the way for formal service of time once the ruling is final.
Minot Optic reports L. W. Dale, a young man sentenced to ten years in state prison, may face delays as his appeal to the state supreme court must be dismissed or abandoned before admission to the pen. Dale remains compliant and hopeful, saying he will do as told and serve his sentence when able.
Minot North Dakota February 18 Louis Tarvestad about 35 ended his life at the Waverly hotel room 28. The door was locked all day and only opened at 8 pm amid a strong chloroform odor. Coroner Taylor and County Physician Stone were summoned. he had been dead about twenty four hours. Continued on last page.
