Sioux Indian Takes His Own Life At Standing Rock
Shields, N. D. February 10 August Little Shield a Sioux Indian from the Cannonball district of the Standing Rock reservation shot himself last Wednesday, dying of a heart wound. He had recent trouble including arrest for striking a neighbor and the deaths of several children this winter. Once prosperous with sixty head of cattle and considerable land, his self destruction ends a troubled chapter on the reserve.

Crowe Sentenced to One Year in State Prison

Fire Ragged Sentinel Butte Hones Hero Father
In Sentinel Butte North Dakota on February 10 a midnight blaze destroyed the Underwood home, killing two and likely fatally injuring the father who saved five children. Mrs Underwood, dazed by horror, could not escape with the infant and a distraught husband fought to reach the others. The baby perished as the dwelling burned, and the mother was overwhelmed.

The tot was found burned to a crisp while Mrs Underwood died within twenty four hours after sacrificing to save the baby. Mr Underwood remains in a perilous condition. Slain sled accident injures McClusky worker near Occident elevator
Bob Kreig, employed at the Steve Arneson farm north of McClusky, was pinned under a sled load of wheat when his team bolted. He suffered a two placement fracture of the left leg below the knee and a sprained right ankle. He was taken to McClusky hospital for treatment. Kreig, a Wisconsin native, had been in North Dakota since last fall.
