Teacher Hits and Bruises Student in Rural School
Lankin N D Feb 7 In a village school four miles west of the city a teacher Charles Cayley of Minto County attacked a 13 year old pupil James Swarts who refused to buy war stamps. The teacher grabbed the boy at his desk, knocked him to the floor, pinned his chest with a knee and battered his face, leaving a split lip and blackened eye. The boy walked home at recess one and a half miles away.

Obituary of Mrs Pat Walsh of Northgate
Mrs Pat Walsh of Northgate died at St Paul last week and was buried from St Josephs church on Monday. Rev Udo Weiser led the service and interment was in the Catholic cemetery east of town. Born in Austria, she came to the United States in 1902 and married Pat Walsh two years later at Minot. The family lived in several spots before settling in Bond Bell and later Northgate where Mr Walsh ran a drug business. Seven children were born. surviving are John 13, Mike 11, Vera 10, Mary 6, and Thres 3, plus husband and siblings in Canada. The funeral drew many locals and relatives from outside Burke county.
