Fargo, N. D., Feb. 4. Robert Hendrickson, convicted wife killer, walked from the district court to begin a life sentence in the state penitentiary after Judge Pollock denounced liquor traffic as a key factor. Hendrickson pled guilty to murdering his wife, leaving two young children motherless, with two deputy sheriffs aiding his movement. The judge condemned the liquor trade and held the liquor seller morally complicit, urging reparations and warning against further similar crimes. The public, shaken by the case, heard a stern call for legal reform and cautions about conscience and responsibility. Perry Kistler of Clayton township, the potato king, reported about 2000 bushels of seed spuds in his cellar with plans to ship carloads soon. Prices are rising in Kansas City and Minneapolis.

Portal North Dakota February 4 Banks on the American side inaugurated a one per cent exchange on all Canadian currency and checks. The action follows the exchange imposed upon American money by Canadian banks. North Portal has no bank, so Canadian depositors face little inconvenience in American banks.
Border currency exchange forces Canadian patrons to use local banks
Canadian farmers and merchants in North Portal formerly patronizing American banks must place deposits in nearby Canadian banks. Payroll for Canadian Pacific Railway employees will also be handled by Canadian banks to save exchange on checks. Initially thought border cities would escape exchange, but American bank clerks charging exchange on Canadian currency prompted local banks to follow suit, despite inconvenience to foreign depositors.

Drugged Woman 5 Fined in Court
Grand Forks North Dakota February 4 A woman identified as Mrs Anna Jones appeared before Judge Church and was fined 5 for being intoxicated. She was taken from a local theatre apparently under the influence of a strong drug. She is the wife of a well known traveling man whose headquarters are in this area and is on a trip. This is the third time in a week she has been brought in for the same charge. Earlier she was picked up on the streets and at rooming houses in a similar condition. She claims the drug helps kill chronic pain. The judge imposed the fine to avoid leniency.

Minot North Dakota Feb 4 a man registering as Jack Foard of Minneapolis shot himself in a Lexington hotel room. Mrs Oliver Fortune heard three shots from across the hall and the wounded man died before a physician arrived. A diary in his pocket identified him as Clford Squires Cyr Minnesota.

Sheldon North Dakota February 4. Justice Marks a prominent farmer about three miles southwest of Anselm and Will Heaton his hired man were arrested on a charge of malicious mischief on a warrant by William Baguhn a neighboring farmer. The dispute centers on three pigs belonging to Baguhn. Marks had pigs at his place and Baguhn pigs strayed to Marks farm and were near Marks animals. This provoked Marks to instruct Heaton to alter Baguhn pigs Heaton partly carried out the act but released the pigs to go home in a frightened condition Heaton stood before county court and confessed his part Heaton bound over to next term of county court with $200 bail Marks left for Marion to visit relatives before his arrest warrant is served he will face county court.

Shot Self in Leg With a Revolver Near Mabelleod
Sheldon North Dakota Peb Bernaya Inuson, about 19, employed at Northern Produce Cue ranch five miles north of MebLeod, inflicted a serious wound below the knee in an accidental discharge while examining a 22 revolver. Henson, hauling a load home, pulled the weapon from his pocket, cocked it, and it fired. A 22-short bullet entered just below the knee and lodged near the bones. Benson, two miles from the ranch, hurried home, dressed the wound, and with Lee Brown, foreman, started for Leonard to seek medical attention.

Crossing accident at Hope injures two
Hope North Dakota February 4 A buggy collision at the south of the depot cross when a freight train switching approached. Mrs Warren misread the motion and urged on by her husband the buggy was struck by the hind wheels. The pair were thrown free as the buggy overturned. Mrs Warren sustained a deep cut on the head and facial scratches while Mr Warren suffered bruises and possible internal injuries.
