John A Powers, a well known farmer eight miles north of Mohall, North Dakota, died after noon Monday from ingesting gopher poison. Authorities cited possible temporary insanity and observed he threatened self harm all day. He first soaked poison in water, drank it, then chewed oats with poison juice, and attempted to finish with a razor before convulsions caused death.
