Fined For Selling 100 Much Flour At Leeds

E Fogelson of Leeds North Dakota admitted selling flour in larger quantities than allowed by the food administration and promised a $10 Red Cross donation after the judge granted him continued business on good behavior. He allegedly sold flour to a train crew without the required substitutes and will file regular sales reports. Wm Conrad reports returning from Denver after over a year for health reasons.

Men Within Draft May Enlist In Special Service

Burke county local board urges men of draft age to enlist between now and April 27 in trades they know. A list of trades is posted in the Sheriff’s Office and many fields need workers. Volunteers may serve in France or the United States, avoiding trenches by using existing skills.

Burke County exceeds its Third Liberty Loan allotment turning $81,000 into $51,700 oversubscription by Tuesday noon. County Judge F F Carter announces retirement at term end after eight years in Burke county office. Age 68, in poor health, he plans to move Mrs Carter to a sanitarium. Carter leaves a record of conscientious, evenhanded decisions with no favoritism. Succession hoped to maintain high service standards. Abductor 15 Held on Two Charges

Billy Miers alias Billy Wilson and a 17 year old girl identified as Anna Hawkins, both wounded in a Dun das east of New Rockford shooting, will face forgery and abduction charges after recovery. Escanaba authorities and local sheriff report the weapon was used in the incident. the girl’s father triggered the arrest. Bonds Increase Crop Output Fifteen Million Bushels in North Dakota

Government bond program under the county seed and feed bonding act expands cultivation and grain yield. Commissioner John N. Hagan and crop experts estimate an extra 15,000,000 bushels this year, with significant savings to farmers. Tractor purchase marks shift to gasoline power

N C Aukerman of east of town received an 1836 Avery tractor from Bowbella Implement Co and plans to switch to gasoline power when weather allows. He previously bought a Bull tractor but felt it lacked power and, facing high horse feed costs, sought a more substantial dependable option. The Avery line offers multiple sizes to fit various needs.

Federal Bank Withdraws Its Appeal In North Dakota

St Paul Minn April 18 President E G Quamme of the St Paul federal land bank announced that liens priority issues under the seed grain seed law in North Dakota are resolved and the bank will resume operations there The bank withdrew the suit to test the seed bond law as a plan with the federal farm loan board provides for a farmer to file a surety bond to protect the land loan bank Home Guard Company Notice is given that a meeting to organize a Home Guard Company will be held Saturday evening April 20 in the office of the county superintendent of schools All interested report at 8 30 PM
