Bowbells Glee Club Prepares for University Finals

The Bowbells High School Girls Glee Club and soloists delivered a well received program at the high school gym last Thursday. The district contest was cancelled leaving Rugby, Minot, and Bowbells as finalists for the state finals May 19 to 21 at the University of North Dakota. The program featured orchestral selections, vocal solos, and a piano solo by Alice Hendrickson, with members listed and the director C. A. Perry noted.

Two Lidgerwood Men Die in Separate Suicides

Lidgerwood North Dakota April 14. Joe Parizek a returned soldier shot and killed himself. An hour later the body of Stanley Budge 83 was found hanging from the rafters of a barn near Lidgerwood. Parizek had been mentally unsettled likely from service overseas. His mother was in Minot at a relative’s funeral when the tragedy occurred. Budge had been childish for some time and resided with his granddaughter.

Nagel Found Dead After Hendrickson Farm Case

April 14. State: Finley N D. John Nagel 30 was found dead with a bullet through his heart ending a weeklong search for the would‑be murderer of Mr and Mrs Hendrickson farmers south of Finley. A farmer’s son saw a black coat near a straw pile and found Nagel’s body. a revolver with one chamber remains.

Minor Farmers Press reports Pow ers Lake area farmers formed a corporation with 30000 capitalization to own Consumers Store. J J Sorem returns as manager as changes and stock expansion are planned after immediate possession. The store has enjoyed strong patronage and is regarded as a young, growing business in the region.

Electric Light Plant Managers Wed in Bowbells

Lola Jane Luckman and Robert Henry Schweb, both of Bowbells, were married last Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Gunter at the M E parsonage. They left for White Tail Mont for a honeymoon with relatives. Lola is a Bowbells native and well known locally. Robert moved from White Tail last fall to install a new engine, then bought the Bowbells plant in January and now runs it with Frank Luckman. They will reside in Bowbells after the honeymoon.

Jail break case yields ten year term in North Dakota

Devils Lake North Dakota April 1 Henry Baumer pleaded guilty before Judge A G Burr in district court to assisting a prisoner to break jail and was sentenced to 10 years in the state penitentiary Baumer helped Turner a jail inmate with files and tools.

Thor Kane born April 2 1844 County Meath Ireland came to America at age 42. Lived near Sheffield then Danbury Iowa retired 1906 moved Bowbells died April 6 1921. Rum runners put on their honor at Devils Lake

Judge A G Burr in district court offered Lesle Anderson and A C Story the option of 90 days in jail or returning to Devils Lake in fall to serve. They chose to work and earn money in towns during the summer. Each was bound under $1000.
