Representatives at Chicago voted unanimously to adopt the Committee of 17 report creating a cooperative non stock agency to market the nation's grain. The plan foresees local and regional entities, a $10 member fee, and a board of directors to run the organization aimed to handle part of the 1921 crop.
The Tribune mocks editor Mahoney of the Columbus paper in a wide rant about Siberia and free love. The piece attacks Mahoney’s views on hounds and exiles, cites accusations of gypping farmers, and defends Tribune ownership amid a bitter county feud.
The city passed a new ordinance regulating spring water sellers after a dispute over water defined as natural spring versus well water. Wiles refused a license, claiming the ordinance did not cover his product. City officials and the attorney argued the law applies to Bowbells residents, prompting a special council meeting and a new ordinance to be read and enacted.
The Republicans in Washington caucused on April 9 to assign members to House committees. J H Sinclair was chosen to serve on the Agriculture Committee, bringing expertise from farming to national policy. Officials note farming faces credit and market challenges. Secretary Wallace aims to aid relief.
The Bowbells High School Girls Glee Club and soloists delivered a well received program at the high school gym last Thursday. The district contest was cancelled leaving Rugby, Minot, and Bowbells as finalists for the state finals May 19 to 21 at the University of North Dakota. The program featured orchestral selections, vocal solos, and a piano solo by Alice Hendrickson, with members listed and the director C. A. Perry noted.
Lidgerwood North Dakota April 14. Joe Parizek a returned soldier shot and killed himself. An hour later the body of Stanley Budge 83 was found hanging from the rafters of a barn near Lidgerwood. Parizek had been mentally unsettled likely from service overseas. His mother was in Minot at a relative’s funeral when the tragedy occurred. Budge had been childish for some time and resided with his granddaughter.
April 14. State: Finley N D. John Nagel 30 was found dead with a bullet through his heart ending a weeklong search for the would‑be murderer of Mr and Mrs Hendrickson farmers south of Finley. A farmer’s son saw a black coat near a straw pile and found Nagel’s body. a revolver with one chamber remains.
Minor Farmers Press reports Pow ers Lake area farmers formed a corporation with 30000 capitalization to own Consumers Store. J J Sorem returns as manager as changes and stock expansion are planned after immediate possession. The store has enjoyed strong patronage and is regarded as a young, growing business in the region.
Lola Jane Luckman and Robert Henry Schweb, both of Bowbells, were married last Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Gunter at the M E parsonage. They left for White Tail Mont for a honeymoon with relatives. Lola is a Bowbells native and well known locally. Robert moved from White Tail last fall to install a new engine, then bought the Bowbells plant in January and now runs it with Frank Luckman. They will reside in Bowbells after the honeymoon.
Devils Lake North Dakota April 1 Henry Baumer pleaded guilty before Judge A G Burr in district court to assisting a prisoner to break jail and was sentenced to 10 years in the state penitentiary Baumer helped Turner a jail inmate with files and tools.
Thor Kane born April 2 1844 County Meath Ireland came to America at age 42. Lived near Sheffield then Danbury Iowa retired 1906 moved Bowbells died April 6 1921. Funeral Saturday at St Josephs church burial in Catholic cemetery. Survived by John Danbury Keary Mrs Wm McDonnell Francis Richard Bowbells Mrs Lenora Roeten Farke and Anna Sheinfeld.
The Swedish Lutheran Church announces Sunday school at 10 a.m. and morning services at 11 a.m. with evening services to follow. A Swedish service is planned at the Presbyterian church, including a 10:30 a.m. school session and a 3:30 p.m. service.
The Fargo office reports 40 Burke County checks totaling 7486 for seed and feed purchases and 42 checks in Divide County totaling 77790. Bottlement, McKenzie and Lenville counties show 51254 57323 and 321219.25 respectively. Many applications were returned for unsigned receipts or insufficient wheat held for seed, with some farmers seeking alternate funding.
Judge A G Burr in district court offered Lesle Anderson and A C Story the option of 90 days in jail or returning to Devils Lake in fall to serve. They chose to work and earn money in towns during the summer. Each was bound under $1000.

Water deliveries will be made along Main Street and nearby tracks in Bowbells on a split schedule. East side receives service Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays, while the west side is served Tuesdays Thursdays and Sundays. Deliveries proceed daily to customers along Main Street.
