Summer School Goes 10 Velva in Northwestern District

The North Dakota summer school for teachers will be held in Velva again this year under Supt. A. G. Crane of Jamestown with most instructors returning from last year. Counties included are Divide Burke Renville Ward McHenry Pierce and Bottineau. County Supt. Hecht joined after consideration. Under the revised law non normal or non college graduates must attend. Enrollment from Burke will be larger than last year and all teachers planning to teach next fall should prepare to attend.

Socialists sue Burke county board over bid criteria

The Burke county commissioners and County Treasurer Olson were served with a summons by Socialist Thomas Braaten alleging improper contracting with Ralph Abbott for $325 of work without advertised bids. Fire Destroyed Clark Farm Home and Contents

The W. S. Clark farm house about 12 miles southwest of the city and its contents were burned in a morning fire. Estimated loss about $1200 with no insurance. Mrs. Clark was away in Woburn, while Mr. Clark and the children were at home. The blaze began while Mr. Clark worked nearby.

Invented Millionaire Dreams Surpass Portal Man

John Goldthorpe, about 65, a Portal resident since 1911, was arrested for insanity and committed to Jamestown hospital after an insanity board found him insane. He once held a Canadas homestead, lived in a Portal elevator, and believed banks, the post office, and Hetty Green owed him millions. He threatened to kill Portals chief of police.

Woman shoots sister-in-law then fate halts killer

Lansford North Dakota April 9 Miss Clara Kruse is fatally shot in Lockwood township near Mohall as George Wilson her brother-in-law and alleged shooter flees. Wilson a farmer 40s was sought by sheriffs after the 8 pm incident in which Kruse was shot four times in the back while returning to the Wilson home. A coroner's jury later found Wilson died by suicide in a plowed field with a revolver beside him.
