Mother of six committed to Jamestown asylum

Mary Erickson 88, wife of John Erickson of near Powers Lake, was arrested Wednesday at her husband’s request. Examined by the insanity board, she was committed to the Jamestown asylum. She has six children, the eldest 14, and has lived in Burke county many years. Her illness stems from nervous trouble and religious overexertion, including visions of ghosts and frequent ministerial visits.
