Fire Destroyed Opera House Block Causes Major Loss
A Sunday morning blaze unknown origin destroyed the opera house block in Bowbells. Bakery owner S A Stefanowicz and Howard Corey lost fixtures and stock. pool hall owner P J Troskey and Jimmy Russell also suffered total losses. The upper opera house area, including a piano, chairs, scenery, and two motion picture machines, burned with no insurance on those machines. The block, rebuilt six years ago with concrete, was owned by First State Bank which may decide on rebuilding after its cashier M H Powers returns.

Shipper errors shield carrier in misrouted liquor case
The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled the Great Northern Express Co. is not liable for shipper mistakes. A Brackett Co. shipment labeled Edinburgh on the receipt but boxed for Cavalier N D was sent accordingly and returned from Edinburgh with charges. The ICC found damages stemmed from the shipper's incorrect marking and dismissed the refund claim.
