Republican organizers launch an active campaign drive in Bottineau County targeting voters across townships. Party volunteers plan rallies, door-knocking and petitions to energize supporters ahead of key local elections.
Republican county central committee opens headquarters in Bottineau to run through the election. Will E. Holbein arrives to oversee as assistant secretary. State speakers including P. J. McCumber and C. A. Johnson are slated to visit. A. M. Christianson and E. C. Bowen begin campaign in the forty seventh district at Russell.
Bishop John Shanley of the diocese issues a circular warning Catholics that state schools claiming to be Catholic lack his endorsement. He lists only specific diocesan schools in Bismarck, Devils Lake, Dickinson, Fargo, Glen Ullin, Oakes, Oakwood, Richardton, Wahpeton, Ice, Willow City and Notre Dame Convent as recommended. Parents are urged to consult their pastor or the bishop before enrolling.

William T Gardner and Verne D Miloch were married Tuesday morning at 8 30 at St Mark s church with William Bell and Edith Reyamond as attendants. They will live in the Gardner home in the north part of the city. The Courant extends best wishes for their happiness. Thos Hamilton and Margaret W Adam were married at the Hamilton home at 8 00 Thursday evening. Rev John P Davis officiated in front of relatives. Hamilton came from Scotland to open a tailor shop last summer. the bride joined him soon after. They will reside at the Presbyterian manse with many friends hoping for happiness.
Oakes Times reports Governor Burke takes credit for cleanup west of the Missouri while Attorney General McCue disputes it. If true, Missouri river stone liquor selling remains unchanged since their elections, a weak argument for Burke's re election that thoughtful men will scrutinize.
Yesterday morning Baker Larson at the Westhope bakery found the back door pushed in and the till robbed of over $6.00. Mrs. Doherty observed two men, a Negro and a white man, entering the back way around the time of the crime, but they escaped via the freight. Suspected apprehension is expected.

In Bottineau a special election on Monday failed both measures to raise city indebtedness for a town hall and improvements. Henry C. Dana was elected in the third ward to fill the vacancy created by Arthur Berthiaume moving to the second ward, receiving 33 votes with BE. L. Mc Cutcheon on 15 and T. Sims with 1. Propositions to raise the debt limit to three percent of assessed valuation and to issue bonds of ten thousand dollars each for twenty years at up to four percent interest were both defeated across wards, with a majority against in the final tallies.
The College Boy ends a season under Charles Riggs after 42 weeks with no adverse press criticism. Riggs is proud of the record and has consistently given his team steady leadership.
Theatregoers enjoy a vibrant three hour performance of The College Boy with a superior cast led by Bernard Riggs. The comedy is pervasive and well executed with clever dancing and a lively set of songs. Scenic effects are elaborate and the music catchy.
Burke Cookran notes a remarkable unity in opinion about Judge Taft across factions. W Bourke Cochran, in Boston, says he will back Bryan but praises Taft as the best and most qualified nominee ever offered in any republic. He lauds Taft as a superb administrator and a greater man than Roosevelt when in similar conditions.
Omemee Herald reports the sudden death of George Edmonson at the Arnold farm near Eckman. An early Omemee resident for twenty one years, he was forty eight and left six children: Mrs Harvey Walker Ollie Mrs Albert Kurtz Renzy Hazel and James.
Rev Geo A Hill pastor evangelist of Minot and Mouse River presbyteries will occupy the pulpit at the Presbyterian church Sunday morning and evening September 27. He will also preach at Morrison school house at 4 pm.
Andrew H Burke second governor of North Dakota was born in New York City May 15 1850. His mother died at birth and his father died when he was four. He moved to Indiana in 1858 and served as drummer boy in the Civil War. After the war he worked in newspapers in Indianapolis. In 1880 he moved to Cass County North Dakota and served as county treasurer for three terms. He was elected governor in 1890 and took office in 1891 and later resided in Kansas City.
The School of Forestry began the fall term with 29 students on opening day, about double last year's first day. A new building is in use and a dormitory funding push is planned as demand for rooms grows. Enrollment is expected to reach 100 by year end, with new staff arriving and the administration pleased with early prospects. The Bottineau community is urged to assist in housing students to ensure the school's success.

A forger named Patrick Moran cashed two forged checks in Omemee this week. John Brand’s name appears on a $56.50 check cashed by A. J. Chausee, and Harry Real’s name on a $5.00 check cashed by N. O. Welkes. Police have not located the suspect and a bogus check was also passed in Gardena.
The ladies aid of the Methodist Episcopal church will meet next Thursday October 1 at the home of Mrs George Belyea. All interested in church work are invited. Services led by Rev D Stratford Scadeng at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday School 12 15 Epworth League 6 45.
