County Court Hears Tax Recovery Case in Bottineau
The county court with expanded jurisdiction convened on Wednesday to hear tax recovery suits. John McCannon sues Bottineau County with P J Scully as treasurer and Thomas Gardner as sheriff. Judge took the case under advisement for a later decision. Laporte Cattle Co. v. County Commissioners of Bottineau County awaits district court action. Mrs Penn wife of costume collector at Sherwood N C died this morning at her parents home near Ryder. She had married recently and declined in health over the weeks. Her husband was en route after being summoned in a smuggling case. Funeral likely Monday. she was known to Bottineau county residents including Miss Dena Lomen who formerly lived at Souris.

The county board unanimously approved incorporation of the Village of Newburg and authorized sale of Kane Drain Number Four bonds. W H McIntosh agreed to purchase $2,900 in drainage bonds and the board resolved the earlier 3500 bond issue to Bottineau National Bank, after bond defects halted its acceptance.

Bids Considered for Mouse River Bridge Grading
On November 15 1908 the county board met with all members present to open bids for grading near the planned Mouse River bridge on the township line between townships 160 and 161. BH M Kromrey bid 32 cents per cable yard for the east side and C F Shong bid 35 cents per cubic yard for the west side. Only these two bids were received and the board voted to accept both bids subject to a seven foot general grade height.
