Loxpox dispatch dated Johannesburg November 5 reports Major Saunders and Captain Chalmers of the Canadian Mounted Rifles acted with gallantry on November 2. Saunders rode under heavy fire to retrieve a horseless noncommissioned officer, was wounded, horse killed, and Chalmers aided him despite orders to withdraw.
