Bottineau County Election Results Show Surprises and Close Races
In a statewide general election many surprises and disappointments emerged. Grenna won the U S Senate race with ae Young taking Congress, Hanna carried the state for governor by about 3000. Bottineau County voters chose McLean for sheriff over Brennan and Dokken over Schmelzer for clerk of court, with Hebert defeating Simon for treasurer and Layne defeating Watkins for county superintendent. The closest race was Nichol over Thompson for 1st district commissioner by four votes. Suffrage passed narrowly in Bottineau. Christianson leads Spaulding for supreme court judge by a small margin pending final count. Complete Bottineau results listed for several offices.

Game law violator pays big fire in musk rat case
C W Orr deputy from Granville arrested Ed Orr a school teacher near Jos Reibel's place for taking muskrate out of season. Forty one hides were found hidden in a threshing machine blower. Orr pleaded guilty before Judge Mead and paid 35.90 in fines and costs. Hides to be sold by the game board. Westhope Standard.

Spuds and Things From North Dakota Potatoes and More
Walter G Morrie north east of the city brought to the Journal office a superior collection of potatoes pumpkins onions corn and ripe tomatoes. An Indiana farmer he asserts crops grown there will mature in North Dakota and has grown tomatoes and other garden truck since arriving. He asks for a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and the exhibit shows fine size flavor and cooking qualities. The corn is Northwest dent and the ears on display are among the best.

Bottineau County corn show set for November 19 20
The county corn show will be held Thursday and Friday November 19 and 20 under the commercial club of Bottineau. Exhibits are expected from all county sections as Bottineau county aims to be the banner corn county of North Dakota. The event partners with the teachers meeting and will be held in the gymnasium of the State School of Forestry. A. P. Henderson and W. E. Weid oversee the display with school teachers and women invited to attend.
