Norval Baptie of Bathgate regained the world skating championship at the Hippodrome in Minneapolis after an earlier accident. He defeated John Nilson of Minneapolis in two straight events, winning the half mile in 1:15 and the mile in 2:35.

Jury awards Mrs Amelia Zilke $1000 in malpractice suit
The jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff Mrs Amelia Zilkeva granting $1000 after nearly ten hours deliberation. Dr J A Johnson appeals to the supreme court. Plaintiff claimed a hernia operation in 1906 left a stray piece of gauze in her abdomen later removed by Drs M B Halldorson and G A Durnin. Johnson argued the gauze was placed in 1909 during an abscess treatment, not during the hernia operation. Bowen Adams and Noble Blood Adamson with Geo A Bangs led defense counsel.
