Portland journalist reports Joaquin Miller day on the 45th day of July at the Lewis and Clark Exposition. Memorial Day Observed by Turtle Mountain Lodge of Odd Fellows

Turtle Mountain Lodge of Odd Fellows held Memorial services with addresses in the hall and marched to Oak Creek Cemetery for a floral decoration service. Each grave received a floral emblem. Angua McKinnon, Dr. J. A. Greig and wife, and Alexander Frazer were honored with short biographies. About fifty lodge members participated.

Meadow Notes Showers Boost Meadows Growth

Last Saturday's shower and Monday's rain helped crops thrive in Meadow. The town grows as Joseph Hinds moves a shack in and a new lumber yard plans to open next week. Local baseball talk includes Meadow and Russell boys considering a game, while Iver Austin and his sons manage cattle and potatoes and a nearby altercation with Anton Hellrade ends with Austin uninjured. Rev. Thompson held services and the Indies aid society met at Mrs. Burley's, with lively community activity and a Decoration Day ball game discussed.

Local Masons gathered in Willow City for a notable meeting last night. The event drew members from nearby lodges and highlighted community service plans for the year.

About a hundred Masons from Weathope Souris Bottineau Omemee and Rugby attended Willow City last night for degree work. A grand banquet followed with Rev White as toastmaster and musical entertainment by the Weathope orchestra Meears Stafford Rygg and guest vocalists. The event concluded with dancing before the 2 40 a m return trip.

The wedding occurred Wednesday at the bride’s parents home in Minneapolis. The bride is well known locally and is greeted with many good wishes. Details of the ceremony are not yet available.

North Dakota family found destitute in Minneapolis depot

Mrs Lizzie Hagedus and her three children, starving, were discovered at a Minneapolis depot after being cast out by their North Dakota husband who owned a Fairmount farm. The case spurred calls to enforce a new statute on willful neglect of a wife and children, with bond and possible punishment.

The Great Northern Railway plans a 42 mile extension from York through Ox Creek Island Lake to spawn five North Dakota towns. Two already platted towns, McCumber and Thorne, will offer lots June 7 at Bottineau Bank with agents June 6. Additional towns Deep and Newburg appear on the Towner extension with sales June 8.
