Bottineau Fair Boosters To Tour The County

Bottineau Commercial club members and town boosters plan a booster automobile trip across Bottineau county. They leave Tuesday at 8 30 a m and return Wednesday evening with C R Gleason as path finder and Lansford club joining on the last day. Thirty to forty local car owners will assist riders, tour paced at twenty miles per hour, with Bottineau Military band providing music at each stop.

Gollmar Brothers Circus Draws Big City Crowd

The Gollmar Brothers Circus played here Saturday drawing one of the largest crowds in the city. Spectators began arriving after nine with six full coaches arriving on the west train. The show, a long standing favorite in the county, is the third largest on the road and continues to improve.

Bottineau County Fair Set With Big Events And Prizes

Bottineau County Fair will run July 28 29 and 30 with livestock premiums totaling 2600 and attractions including a 1000 purse racing program Frank Champion the birdman and a 10000 merry go round George Harrisons trained animals King William the diving goats and more. Music by Bottineau Military Band rest rooms by WCTU wide accommodations expected to draw county residents and visitors.

May Not 2 10: A Nebraska racehorse in Lincoln circuits

Prospects rise for North Dakota meetings with many stables entered including May Not 2 at Lincoln Nebraska on a half mile track. Owned by J D Nelson of Orr the gelding began racing in 1912 with eight starts and seven placings. In 1913 he earned nine firsts, three seconds, one third and one show. Sire Robert Elsmere is owned by R H Woods of this city.

Central Committee Elects Republican Officers in City Meeting

The Republican Central Committee met in this city on Wednesday and elected officers including Chairman C. W. Wilkins of Willow City, Secretary C. A. Waseem of Bottineau, Treasurer F. A. Rinkel of Antler, and State Committeeman E. L. Garden of Souris. Executive Committee members were J. G. Walstad of Lansford, G. H. Capes of Omemee, and H. W. Peterson of Souris.

Young Scouts Rescue Drowning Men on Mouse River

Lee Piper and Walter Champlin of Piper Howe Lumber nearly died while swimming Sunday in the Mouse River. Piper cramped, Champlin helped, and both sank before three unknown Boy Scouts formed a human chain and pulled them to safety. The scouts proved true heroes.

Two Deaths by Self-Destruction Near Antler

The Antler American reports two recent self inflicted deaths near Antler. Mrs. Hoffman an 82 year old mother of Chas Hoffman strangled herself with a sheet loop tied to a wall hook and left her body on the floor. Funeral services were held at Haase M. E. Church. The other victim David Irwin, a disabled bachelor who had lost both feet, killed himself with a shotgun after leaving a note about bank funds and a wish to be with those who went before. He used his crutch and a wire to pull the trigger, killing himself and scattering brain matter.

Norwegian Day at Grand Forks Fair Set for July

Grand Forks fair management designates July 28 to 31 as Norwegian day in honor of St Olaf natal day. Dr N J Kildahl president of St Olaf College and vice president of the Norwegian United Lutheran church of America will be the orator. Norwegian folk songs and dances will be presented and the event invites Norwegians in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota who cannot travel home to celebrate this holiday.
