Merger Case seeks forfeiture of St Paul Manitoba charter
In St Paul on January 28 Attorney General Young filed quo warranto proceedings in the Minnesota Supreme Court against the St Paul Minneapolis and Manitoba railroad to forfeit its charter. The suit names Manitoba officers and is returnable April 2 with show cause ordered. The Great Northern is joined as owner of Manitoba stock and questioned for watered stock issuance and evasion of a 4 percent gross earnings tax by using Manitoba’s charter to limit assessment to 3 percent.
