O S Whitman of Portland Ind toured Lansford on business and hinted at permanent ties to the local real estate scene. The Great Northern erected snow fencing along cuts likely for winter. Judge Bennett Dies After Heart Failure in Washington
Judge John W. Bennett died of heart failure and apoplexy yesterday afternoon after a noontime shift at the treasury department. Funeral will be Thursday with cremation. Born in New York, he long resided in Dakota Territory and ran a Bottineau paper. A Democrat, he aided early territorial history and held chief law clerk duties under Grover Cleveland and civil service appointment.
