Supreme Court acquits in liquor case repeat arrest
Sylvinus Gutke, once acquitted of selling liquor in a dry territory, was arrested again and convicted of selling liquor to a minor. His lawyers appealed after the conviction and the supreme court previously set aside the verdict and acquitted him. H. C. Tavey of Brown- Hart Co. attended a Salt Lake reunion and banquet of Marshall Field's traveling men this week.

A Givens Arrested In Bank of Nampa Case
Caldwell Feb 2 J A Givens former vice president of the Bank of Nampa is under arrest in La Grande and held for Idaho authorities on alleged irregularities connected with the bank. A warrant also out for Cashier Lore who is believed to be in area Ever aoe after the failure. Rumors of officer irregularities followed the bank closure as officials disappeared. Mrs F W Berryman has recovered enough to leave hospital and go home.
City Council Meeting Notes and Proceedings
The City Council held a regular meeting with most members present though Councilman Jox Younle was absent. Mayor absence led Councilman Peck to preside as City Attorney Dygert and Engineer Young reported on a Blackfoot river power site and discussed zoning, sprinkling districts, and a damaged sidewalk case. A building permit denial for a non combustible frame structure was noted, and several bills were passed or deferred including Blackfoot Water Works and local service charges.

Gregory Jones has been named by President Wilson for Blackfoot postmaster, expected to win Senate confirmation amid Fred T. Dubois opposition. Jones, a Arkansas native who has lived in Blackfoot 25 years, previously served as chief clerk at the local land office and now awaits entry into his duties in the near future.

State Veterinarian V C White, visiting Blackfoot over the holidays, denies paying bounties more than once on the same coyote scalps. He says an attempt to defraud the state was thwarted when he returned to Boise and refused to honor vouchers for 173 dollars rather than 700. Mrs Batway faces a preliminary hearing in probate court today on illegal medicine charges.

Death of John Parker and local notices in Idaho papers
Death of John P Parker reported from Olympia Washington. He lived on the Fort Hall reservation for over forty years and was among the few whites allowed there in early days. He was the father of Mrs. W W Blakeslee Mrs Jeff Yandell of Papis Hall and Mrs Annie Matthews of Oklahoma. Also note a child’s wagon accident in Idaho Falls A five year old boy fell from a wagon and nearly severed his tongue but was spared by Dr Hoover and remains treatment. Kimball a popular Idaho Falls dentist visited Dr Richards and friends last Sunday.

Public Auction Planned For Big Lost River Irrigation Project
The Big Lost River irrigation project will be sold at public auction in Hailey on February 16 without delay. Corey Bros Construction is the likely bidder to satisfy the lien, with no agreement from bondholders and little chance of their bid. The sale covers the reservation site, construction work, and right of way across Blaine, Custer, Fremont and Bingham counties. The Carey act plans to irrigate 100000 acres in the valley. Corey Bros may complete the work this year if they win. Ten percent cash due at sale, rest on confirmation. Corey brothers currently face about 650000 due on completion.

Live Old Timer Visits Utah From Idaho Roots
W. H. Homer of Provo Utah, a DeLaval cream separator agent, visits town this week. He recalls moving from Iowa to Franklin in 1858, then Oneida county in 1860, and notes Idaho’s growth from he first knew Oneida. Homer, 68, has traveled through 48 states and Canada and Mexico but hopes to return to Idaho someday. He claims to feel as young as when he was 54.

Case Postponed in Po Catello Hearing
On request of Judge Budge the case of J. M. Stevens versus E. A. Cooke was postponed to Friday evening. The case seeks to set aside the receivership claimed by the deposed founder of the Evening Courier through his attorney J. W. Jones. Max Taylor, late city editor, resigned and returned to Boise with his family.

In Boise on Jan 29 the final appeal stage in Daniel R. Jones former Blackfoot State Bank cashier convicted of embezzling 1000 was heard. D C McDougall and Hansbrough for the defendant argued while A Dickinson and Tony Coffin represented the state. A sheriff reported two colored men found riding in a box car near Shelley were arrested for stealing a ride.
