Government Building for Blackfoot

The Blackfoot city council met Tuesday with Mayor West presiding and voted unanimously to adopt a resolution requesting Congress for a federal building appropriation. Copies were to be sent to Senators Borah and Brady and Representatives Smith and French. The mayor urged forming two citizen committees to push the movement. A petition to extend sewer lines in Fourth Ward was laid over due to absent councilmen. The council discussed water main usage, meters, and preventing nighttime waste from storage tanks. A feed yard proposal near the city was referred to the attorney and improvement committee, with sanitary conditions promised. Merchants petitioned for an ordinance banning burning waste in streets and alleys, a draft that spurred safety concerns and debate over best enforcement. The street paving plan and a new business block bid were also noted.
