Thief Robs Carrizozo Woman in Private Office
In Carrizozo New Mexico on Oct 5 a burglar entered Mrs. Julia Gurney’s private office and stole diamond earrings a diamond ring and about 600 dollars. The day porter who lit lamps and the night clerk disappeared after the theft and is being sought as a possible suspect with police noting prior visits to Carrizozo under various names.

An Enjoyable Husking Bee at Southwestern Ranch
Last Thursday a large crowd from Belen and Los Lunas gathered at the Shutz and Roscoe ranch near Los Lunas for a husking bee. Attendees arrived by auto and buggy, the grounds and house were festively decorated, a grand outside and inside march led to a corn heap ready for husking, Mrs John Becker Jr found the red ear and won a cake, the rest of the evening featured dancing and card games with a guitar and accordion, a waxed canvas dance floor, dainty refreshments, and general praise for an enjoyable time.
