Senate adopts modified Article Ten reservations in peace pact

Washington March 9 the senate voted 87 to 20 to re adopt the reservation on voting power in the league of nations in modified form. Republican leaders and democrats moved toward a ratification compromise with President Wilson opposing any clause granting full force to Article Ten unless acceptable qualifications are added.

Salvation Army publicity drives NM county reports

Albuquerque March 3 A prompt response has been mailed by New Mexico counties to the Salvation Army appeal for reports. County advisory boards have gathered social moral and industrial data and sent surveys to Denver for analysis before the March 11 conference. Delegates from all counties will attend and findings will aid welfare groups chambers of commerce and related bodies. Counties have been organized across New Mexico Arizona Colorado and Utah.

Discovery of a cooperative kidnaping association report

Washington on March 8 reports a Mexican foreign office notice of a cooperative kidnapping association aiming to kidnap and hold for ransom foreigners, preferably Americans, formed by Mexicans and Americans on the border. The foreign office says the group also aims to create trouble between the United States and Mexico based on consular reports.
