Santa Fe to Start Death Benefit for Employees’ Families
The Santa Fe railroad will begin paying a death benefit on July 1 1916. The plan provides five percent of the employee’s twelve month wages multiplied by years of continuous service, for beneficiaries designated in writing or to the next of kin if no designation is made. The benefit covers all employees from officers to section workers and is separate from the pension system.
