Washington sent identical notes to China and Japan around May 15 stating it will not recognize any China Japan agreements that impair American rights in China or threaten the open door policy. The notes followed China's acceptance of Japan’s ultimatum and were delivered to both foreign offices.
Twenty six men were brought to the county jail by militiamen guarding Governor Slaton’s estate after attempting to enter his grounds. The inaugural of Nat E. Harris ended Slaton’s term with a stormy scene, quickly quelled, as he handed over the state seal and referenced Leo M. Frank’s commutation. Militiamen recovered seven pistols and three clubs after a brief gun exchange with no injuries.

Mrs Clarita Sanches 36 died in Las Vegas while visiting friends. She was the wife of Lli seo Sanches and sister of Mrs Frank Hubbell. The body was shipped from Las Vegas Sunday to Albuquerque for funeral arrangements.

Moriarty New Mexico June 26 A rattlesnake bit a horse driven by R R Wade visiting from Batavia Ohio. The horse kicked and Wade was knocked unconscious briefly. Initial skull fracture fears proved unfounded with injuries deemed not serious.
