President David Ross Boyd of the University of New Mexico spoke in Washington on New Year’s Day at the Pan American Scientific congress. He urged students to pursue lifelong learning, self-macking discipline, and the growth of character through truth, peace, temperance, home, and country.
Reports from local residents say Elfego Baca the Albuquerque attorney was acquitted of the murder of Celestino Ceto at El Paso Texas. The jury deliberated about five minutes and returned a verdict that the shooting of Otero occurred in self defense.
Valencia's public school system shows better results than expected, per the annual report to the New Mexico department of education from the county superintendent. The county lists teacher credentials by grade, noting in third grade three teachers, two with life certificates, two with five year certificates, nineteen with first grade, six with second grade, and one with a permit. of fifty junior teachers, thirty-one hold no advanced certificates.
The report details average salaries by gender and by district, listing numerous teacher pay amounts from 1,200 to 90 dollars annually. It notes the average term of 7.83 months and a county census of 3510 youths 5 to 21, with Belen housing 632 residents and 2880 enrollments across grades from kindergarten to high school, as recorded by the Albuquerque Morning Journal.

Riley Edwards closed while Estanislao Garcia alerted others after flames spread rapidly. Goebel’s Curio Store and nearby residence were partly spared. stock losses and insurance status uncertain.
