A Belen business meeting at the Commercial Club rooms adopted Woy of the Albuquerque Electric Light Co plan to install a city electric plant. Local subscriptions reached 3500 dollars with expectation to double. a permanent organization aims for March 1 and a power house and shared generation to cut costs.

Episcopal Church Notes Healthy Sunday Services Begin Jan 19
Regular Episcopal services start at 8 pm each Sunday from Jan 19 led by Norman R. Snowdon who recently received a Lay Reader’s badge. Sunday school meets Sundays at 11 am. Archdeacon Warren of Albuquerque conducted Monday eve services in prep for the bishop’s arrival and confirmation date to be announced. Special Term District Court in Valencia County Held in Los Lunas
A special term of the District Court for Valencia County will be held in Los Lunas on the third Monday of February. The grand jury venire is returnable February 17, and the petit jury the following Monday. Court meets in the new public school building due to the courthouse fire last fall.

Miss Sturdevant spends Sunday at home in Albuquerque. Teachers report good attendance and progress in multiple rooms. Amador Abeyta and Timoteo Silva passed state exams last Friday and Saturday under Prof. Gunter. Gilbert Moore, a local switchman, was seriously injured in yard accident and taken to Albuquerque hospital.

About 5 oclock Wednesday morning the Witzel Bar west of Hotel Belen was destroyed by fire of mysterious origin with all contents. Loss about 3500 dollars, partially insured. Hotel saved by light wind and quick alarm from Hotel Belen guests. Insurance adjusters are arriving to assess the loss.
