Torrance County Plans Seven Thousand Dollar Road Program
J A Beal of Mountainair says Torrance County will spend about seven thousand dollars on automobile roads next year. The plan is to complete Encino to Albuquerque and Stanley to Abo routes, creating north south and east west travel across the county. Freight traffic through Mountainair runs regularly on the Belen cut off with Mallet locomotives hauling trains up to five thousand feet long.

The Tovey Concert Company from Topeka Kansas opened the Santa Fe season at the Santa Fe Reading Room in Belen. The ensemble included Henry D. Tovey pianist manager Orie Abbott Jennison soprano Clare Tovey baritone Hazel M Barnwell reader Mae Elizabeth Rees violinist and Gertrude Rees accompanist. The large audience enjoyed every number and the management praised presenting only top quality acts as uplifting Christmas entertainment.
