H G Purdy suffered a severe accident while riding a wagon seat and crossing a deep rut. The fall left him unconscious for some time with head and shoulder injuries. He later regained consciousness and expressed gratitude at escaping serious harm.
President Wilson issues a Thanksgiving Proclamation designating November 27 as a day of prayer and gratitude to Almighty God. The text praises peace at home and abroad, friendship, and civil harmony, and invites all Americans to worship and give thanks for divine guidance.
