The Hewany acknowledges extensive Montgomery Ward advertising this week while explaining a shift to accept foreign ads due to high taxes costly materials and printer wages. The paper prefers home ads but will accept foreign space to pay bills and avoid charity while maintaining trade.
Mrs. Lillie Bridges visit ends with a painful mishap for her little daughter. While playing with an old discharged shell the child attempted to drive a nail into it and the shell exploded tearing the nail and tip from each finger of the left hand. Dr. Long reports only permanent damage to the second finger joint and the parents are thankful the outcome was not worse.
The Beaver County Sunday School Convention met at the Christian church in Beaver on October 16 and 17. Delegates attended while Mrs. Frances Miller of Oklahoma City spoke on work areas. Officers elected: President W. J. Meador, Vice President Laura Heynan, Secretary Treasurer Mrs. Leonard, and Delegate to State Convention Pres W. T. Meador. Next meeting time and place to be set by the Executive Committee.
J. R. Quion reports the birth of a daughter to his daughter Mrs. H. Fox in Des Moines Mexico on October 1. The event makes J. R. a grandfather twice, following W. T. last week.
The first snow of the season falls today as temperatures dip by several degrees. Moisture remains suitable for fall wheat but the frost will halt late feed and broomcorn preparations.
Neighbors and Elmwood families gathered Friday night for Mrs J M Bulick's birthday. A local band provided music and refreshments, with sixty attendees enjoying the event before plans to meet again next year at the same time.

In Guthete Oklahoma the 1910 taxes are due in two halves with late penalties. Half payable by December 31, 1910, is delinquent if unpaid. the remaining half becomes delinquent June 16 following if the first half was not paid on time. Interest at 15 percent per annum applies.
