A heavy rain event delivered about an inch in under an hour Tuesday afternoon with torrents and a light wind. Sections around Forgan and west reported fruit and yam damage while hail fell north of Balko with little reported impact. The downpour covered the county, with two towns noting damage but overall limited effects.
A large Beaver crowd traveled Monday night to Morgin for a minstrel performance by the Vitinka Minuteols. The troupe featured about forty Black performers, praised for their singing and stage presence, with a notably strong band. Attendees from Beaver left pleased with the show and its entertainment value.
Plans outline Decoration Day events for May 2 and 3 with cemetery attendance at 10 o clock Monday morning. Memorial service at Methodist church led by Rev F Lewis. Old Soldiers conveyance arranged while others arrange own travel. committees named for conveyance, flower delivery, church decoration, and program duties.
Rev L Shaw delivered the baccalaureate sermon to Bundsy evening Christian church graduates. He urged grasping timely advice to lift students toward life success. Graduates named include Misenoe Pearl Cayler Sadie Beauchamp Harold Lowlboarrow William Moore Joe Meets Chan Huguley Harvey Padget Bryan Hatfield and Percy Barrow.
Reports say Acton construction on Jaaver's railroad started with about one mile of track completed and rapid progress. Ground materials sufficient for three to four miles await arrival. potential transfer to Beaver road could accelerate completion and improve haul from Forgan terminal. Observers doubt delays but expect soon to dispel doubts as Beaver advances.
J M Centers dies suddenly at his home early Friday morning after a history of heart trouble. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church with Odd Fellows honors. Mr Centers and wife moved from Riverside to Ben air about a year ago. His wife and community mourn the unexpected death. neighboring friends offered sympathy.
Norton Brothers presented a clean entertaining show in Beaver City on Thursday and Friday nights. Large crowds attended both evenings. The act featured contortionists and trapeze performers, rare for smaller shows, and worth seeing. National Jim Doyle from Oklahoma City visited for business. County Judge Spoba announced pension application details for Confederate soldiers and widows in Bea Yer County through his office with blanks available for forwarding to the Pension Board.
