A health notice argues that swamps and lowlands harbor malaria germs rather than ghosts. It warns that malaria causes ague chills fever and body pains, potentially typhoid, and endorses Electric Bitters as a remedy to cleanse the blood as claimed by Was. Fretwell of Lucan.
Wm Roberts an aged Cornwall born farmer who moved to Beaver Ohio with his sister Mrs Grace Webb died May 11 1911 after long illness Brights disease. He never married and lived with Grace Webb at their Beaver home. Funeral at the M E church with Rev W A Rent officiating. interment Beaver cemetery. He left three sisters Mrs Paremore of Council Hill Miss Merrifield of Council Hill and Mrs Webb of Beaver and two brothers John Roberts of Stockton and Paul Roberts of Beaver. Community mourns his loss.
A group of young people gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Jim Crabtree Thurnlay evening to celebrate their first paper anniversary. Guests presented a Bible during the event. Vin Crabtree and wife narrowly escaped lightning Saturday night as it struck their dining room chimney and wall, but they were not injured, only startled.
Fine rain visited sections of the county over the weekend, with Sunday night bringing more showers. The rainfall adds value to crops, especially after a slow start, and is welcomed by residents. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fickel returned to Beaver after teaching school in Blue Mould all winter.
The Knights of Pythias Beaver lodge held a large class of ten new members Tuesday evening after ritual work. An elegant banquet followed, run by the Martha Society which did credit to the supper. The lodge, Beaver’s oldest fraternal group, continues to grow with influxes of new members, maintaining a strong community presence. Harvey H. Hill of Plainview was en route home from Cato after visiting his daughter Blanche at Friends' Academy.
Panhandle Agricultural Institute in Goodwell Oklahoma schedules commencement week with a May 2 reception and a May 7 event. Activities include field meet on May 2, a sermon by Rev. St. A. Croakey, May 24 exercises, and graduate exercises with public cordials. Mrs. I. K. Piager, injured days earlier, is recovering from a fall. Mothers Day program at Christian church featured recitations songs and carnations. Joseph Coonte and wife of Atorem Tillanee visited then returned home.
Win Hogsett and his family settled near Beaver months ago and he died suddenly last week leaving a large grieving family. Friends extend sympathy to his wife and children and to relatives Mrs Frank Laughlin and A. X. Hogsett. Local ladies planned gatherings with tea and cake, a relief circle meeting, and church services by Rev Rutledge at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday with morning and evening hours.
Citizens of school district No. 22 Beaver are urged to gather at the Court House on Tuesday evening May 22 to discuss establishing a high school. A rural mail carrier from Texhoma and local officials from Beaver and Garret visit, while a propo sition to form a school board and organize a community plan is noted. Also mentioned are local residents, a Colorado summer plan, and a March 1910 motorcycle carrier record.

The editor visits Liberal Kansas for a brief time and notes rapid growth. New railroad station and a completed line promise ease for travelers. Brick buildings rise in a handsome array while north Liberal showcases fine homes and active Beaver pioneers shaping the town’s development and prosperity.
The Marthas Society entertained at the home of J I Thome on Wednesday afternoon. A large attendance enjoyed a social hour with refreshments including a trampler ride ice cream cake fruit and candy.
