Red Cross War Fund Workers Meet at Beaver Court House

A large gathering of Red Cross War Fund workers met at Beaver Court House to receive final instructions from chairman J W Steffen. Captains for each district outlined drives May 20 to 27 to raise funds toward the $100000 War Fund goal.

Miss Beatrice Hammond Dies After Illness

Miss Beatrice Hammond sister of Mrs May Day died Monday May 13 after a severe attack of measles followed by German measles and mumps. The family home is near Madison. Hammond had been in Beaver for months directing the vulcanizing plant at Crossley’s garage. Miss Keith deputy court clerk assisted Red Cross headquarters with stenographic work, helping write twenty five long letters.

Transfers or Tuition Required For Beaver School Enrollment

Notices from Beaver schools warn residents outside District No 22 must transfer by June 1 or pay tuition to attend Beaver High. Beaver High is the county’s only four year accredited high school, meaning credits from here are recognized by State Normal schools A and M College and the State University.
