A Beaver County crime wave hits with safes cracked at the Beaver post office site and Gray mercantile, plus a safe blown at Guyman. John Longnecker, a farmer near Liberal, Kansas, murdered in what appears to be cold blood, as towns react to rising thefts and cautious bank practices.
A call to observe Mothers Day on May 8th by wearing colored flowers for the living and white for the departed. Readers are urged to send flowers or messages, or better yet visit their mother. The piece emphasizes cherishing living mothers and avoiding regret after their passing.
Sheriff Bridgewater secured bloodhounds from Concordia and Kane last week to track a Beaver post office robbery suspect. The trail led from the post office to the hardware store, then toward Eldon Roberts in Tipperary. Roberta was briefly jailed on bond, with a preliminary hearing held and a re arrest followed as federal officers had not yet arrived.

A farmer John Longnecker was found murdered at his barn near Liberal Kansas. His body lay between feed stacks with wounds on face and neck. car parked nearby, horses harnessed, money on him not taken. Coroner's inquest returned an open verdict of murder unknown, awaiting suspects.
Mr and Mrs J N Phelps of Beaver receive a letter from their daughter Louise at Washburn College Topeka Kansas reporting a strong academic record She ranks among the top students with high honors for scholarship and has been elected to Sigma Alpha Iota musical sorority The Herald praises this achievement as proof of local quality and effort
Beaver resident Wade Loofhourrow, now in Buffalo on loan, was inducted as an honorary member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity at Eagle Hall Oklahoma City. Former Governor William and Justice McNeill also received honorary memberships during the same ceremony and banquet at the Huckins Hotel.
