Beaver Oklahoma items report March 8 dance at the Hall free invitation with notes on residents like Stephenson from Hooker, Mrs Tackett sick, and World War era style notices. Local ads include real estate listings, farms, and upcoming Republican Club meeting plus court and school news.
A special meeting led by Capt. Niles drew a large turnout with a heated speech and multiple pledges. Attendees urged readers to support the temperance effort and pledged to help destroy the liquor traffic in the country.
On March 6 1907 Mrs Annie M and Mr Albert L Overton were wed in Rokomo township. Judge Meese officiated in a solemn ceremony as the couple begin life together. The groom is a longtime county resident, son of Mr and Mrs Overton. The bride is new to the area but admired by friends for her poised appearance and potential.
Saturday a man identified as Mr. Wily Linus living with his wife and Jenita on a Riverside area farm died by his own hand after attempting to harm his wife with poison and then fatally cutting his throat with a razor as Dr. Sande and others intervened. Neighbors had noted erratic behavior and suspected mental decline prior to the tragedy.
John Stage filed a complaint in Justice Court before Judge Meese against H M Drake Walton Stout and Avis Stout of Dombey for disturbing an assemblage at religious worship in District 82. The dispute centers on which denomination should use the schoolhouse for services on the Sunday in question. A decision had not yet been reached as press time.
A probate case in which John Baker seeks custody of his daughter against FM Bohn and wife was decided by Judge Meese who temporarily split custody. The district court appeal keeps the child with the defendants until a higher ruling. Separately, Temperance Workers push for statewide prohibition, pledging to recruit, urging Christlike conduct and stressing lawful, respectful advocacy for a liquor ban in the new state.
The Beaver Brass Band, formed recently, earns praise for early efforts and calls for a capable instructor and sponsor to reach top level. The note urges the community to back the band to make the town’s musical group the best in the region.
