Public school term ends with songs and a basket dinner. Dr Long and F C Tracy experience a minor collision near the cemetery. no injuries.
A notice from Royal Neighbors Lodge No 5991 Beaver Oklahoma warns beneficiary members to settle all dues by the due dates January April July and October. It states no payment will be accepted if dues are unpaid and directs members to blame themselves for suspensions due to neglect or refusal to pay agents.
Laura Mackey and Mise Fuller, Betheny College and University of Oklahoma graduates, perform at Beaver Friday night. Mackey, a vocalist, and Fuller, an accomplished pianist, offer an evening of high class music, with proceeds benefiting the Presbyterian church. Watch for further announcements.
The district held its regular annual meeting at the school house on Tuesday afternoon June tot. A ninth grade was established and the secretary's and treasurer's reports were read and approved. W.T. Quing was unanimously reelected treasurer. Eight months school, starting the first Monday in September, was decided upon. A ten mill levy was approved with eight mills for general purposes and two for contingent. It was voted the district should not be responsible for discounts on teachers' warrants. County Superintendent Merle advised all Beaver county teachers must teach vocal music in every grade. Meeting adjourned after the secretary's report was read and approved.
Old Soldiers and others gathered for a regular old-fashioned Decoration Day dinner in the Nike building. The Marthas of the Christian church organized the event, serving a generous feast that included cream and ample fare. Laughter and patriotic song filled the room as veterans enjoyed a warm, communal afternoon.
A letter complains about the town neglecting its own band while paying 65.00 for Decoration Day music. It urges Caleyville Band to be praised for delivering good entertainment and questions why Beaver and the community offered little support to their home band.
A deal completed this week transfers ownership of the Beaver Guanty Democrat to A. D. Smith of Woodward. Smith purchases the paper from FC Tracy and W. J. Wilbour and is described as a strong Democrat. Unclear fragments hint at changes in staff or editorial direction.
The 1909 season notes Reyal Belgian stallion Gentil 37484 will stand for breeding at the farm of Beout near Ivanhoe Oklahoma each Friday and Saturday with breeding fees set at 100 dollars to cover costs. Descriptions praise Gentil as a high energy sire likely to produce strong foals with good manners and useful work traits.
