Homer McKay, back from overseas, bought Mrs. Hubert Griffy's home and will settle in Beaver with his wife. Mrs Griffy and her sons will return to Indiana to live with her mother.

Two Ford wreck after South Douglas collision injures none seriously

On Saturday night near the townsite line two Fords collided head on as W J Fry and Seth Skinner drivers disputed fault. Both cars wrecked. Pry loaded with harvesters. Skinner car carried several passengers including veterans recently returned from service. All riders shaken but not critically hurt.

Advertising has been issued to promote the Chautauqua approaching July 15 to 18. Tickets on sale with reports of satisfactory canvass results. Adult season tickets are $2 and children $1, with a varied program promising both pleasure and instruction for Beaver residents.

Banker Laughrin the Lucky Wheat Grower of Beaver City

Frank Loughrin, president of the Bank of Beaver City and large landowner, topped this year’s wheat market by selling grain locally and at Morgan and Person, earning premium prices. He received $1.05 per bushel plus advances, and a $10 gold piece mounted as a water charm for the first 100 bushels marked at the elevator. He was the first to market at both Beaver and Person, earning a $2.26 premium and the Watch din. His early sales were aided by threshing wheat from the barge.

John W. Sims of Kiowa saw two large wheat stacks burn last week as threshing began. The fire, started by the engine, consumed the stacks but Sims had insured the wheat days earlier, covering most of the loss.

Harvest Around Beaver County 1919 Wheat Crop Nears Peak

Mrs. C. L. Crawford of the Clear Lake Red Cross Branch visited Beaver last week and filed the final production report. All work is completed, funds totaling 82.26 were remitted, and the Lake Branch is praised for its active service and future readiness for the Peare time program.

Missing Soldier Reported Dead From War Wounds

Bob Lauxtrit of Brawley California nephew of Frank Laughrin was reported missing last October and his parents received War Department news this week that he died of wounds on October 5. Relatives and friends in Beaver County mourn the slain young man who had served overseas.

George Batman Returns From Overseas

George Batman, a postmaster at Elmwood, and wife return Thursday from overseas service. He shows good health and has gained from service as Uncle Sam cared for him. Beaver Chautauqua invites all soldiers and sailors to events on July 5 with uniform admission and post-event discussion of American Legion matters. Mrs W F Cereon and Attie Villa report arrival in Los Angeles and pleasure with the Golden State. A spontaneous dance occurred at the ball with an impromptu display and a complimentary ice cream social hosted by Jeff's Place.

Off for motor trip to Cheyenne and possible Yellowstone

Frank Maple and family and relatives plan today to depart for a western motor journey. They will reach Cheyenne for Frontier Day and may travel through Yellowstone Park. Beaverville saw a famine during the past week with ice plant outages easing after July 4th.
