Riverside trader M J Richardson brought three Poland China hogs totaling 596 pounds fetching 90.74 dollars. A school entertainment at Beaver High aimed to raise funds for students to attend the spring track meet. The program drew praise for its orderly, creditable presentation.
Tax payment time has been extended to March 1 1919, easing the burden for those unable to pay now and avoiding the 18 percent penalty that would apply otherwise.
Tracy celebrated another birthday anniversary on Friday January 17. The main event was a surprise dinner enjoyed by the family together.
Sunday School attendance was high with all teachers and officers present except one. The 11 o clock service was adjourned for a Temperance meeting at the Christian church. A musical program preceded the evening sermon by Rey Perkins with solos by Miss Eagel Barr and Prof. Virgil Hurt, a violin solo by Dr Nobell, guitar by Prof. Hurt, and two orchestra numbers. Next Sunday’s program is expected to be better. 104. m., Sunday School 11 am and 7 30 pm Sermon 7 pm Epworth League. Elbert Cutt is doing needed repairs to the church this week.
The Waynoka high school glee clubs received high praise for a well arranged program at the auditorium. Mrs Hill and Mrs Stinson were lauded for their dedication and the orchestra under Mrs Richardson performed with noted soloists.
Beaver Red Cross Branch must relocate as its work rooms were leased to Panhandle Department Store. New headquarters will return to the former county chapter room, with packing and shipping space added at the Herald Building until larger quarters are found.
A Presbyterian Missionary Society gathering at the home of Judge and Mrs. H. H. Loofbourrow welcomed many ladies. A fine program was followed by refreshments and a pledge rally supporting missions.
Beaver County chapter reports a large consignment of 395 refugee garments shipped this week to St. Louis for overseas charity. The Red Cross mission emphasizes mercy for women and children displaced by war and urges continued local support.
The Panhandle Department Store under J I Corbett will relocate from the Niles Building at First and Douglas in Beaver City next month to the Long and Lawson building one door south of the National Bank. A pre removal sale this week offers substantial reductions to clear stock and make way for spring and summer goods.
A large group of neighbors and friends gathered Saturday evening at Mrs J W Webb home to surprise her on her birthday anniversary. The evening featured social conversation and music, followed by refreshments.
The Bide-a Wee club was entertained at Mrs. N. B. Davis home on Wednesday afternoon. Beside the regular program a special feature was presented for guests. A large number of visitors enjoyed the club’s hospitality at this gathering.
