Mail carrier breaks leg in run away on star route
Frank Riggs, a Hoover Liberal Star Route mail carrier, sustained a broken leg after a team he won driving became unmanageable and ran away. He was thrown out, bruised, and injured just above the ankle. Carl Hetrick takes the route during his recovery.

Receives Appointment as Rural Carrier in County
T. G. Braidwood, deputy in the county treasurer’s office, received word from Washington of his appointment as rural route carrier. The route, formerly held by J. H. McCornl who moved to Kansas City, will be served by substitute T. Floyd until tomorrow January 2, 1914, when Braidwood takes over with a Ford touring car purchased from Frank Maple. He is praised as well qualified and patrons expect faithful service with few complaints.
