The Republicans of Beaver township held a 2 p.m. meeting on February 12 to organize a Republican Club. J R Quinn was named president with HM Bulick secretary and J Blanchard treasurer. Attendees included J RK Thomas, BR Quinn, Blanchard, Capt Niles, A L Green, J W Shortridge, W H Thomas, and Attorney Wellborn. The group pledged Abraham Lincoln Republicanism for victory in Beaver county and Oklahoma. A resolutions committee was named for the next meeting. A separate note reported Mr and Mrs Loofbourrow escaping injury after their buggy overturned near Beaver river, with only minor bruises and property damage.
The youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. A. Bender of Riverside died suddenly at about ten o'clock after falling ill at home. The two and a half year old child was playing outside, asked for water, and died within an hour before a doctor could arrive. Funeral services were held at Beaver Cemetery Tuesday as the community offers sympathy to the grieving parents. Chief Engineer Holliday of the Santa Fe line was to visit Beaver to discuss a proposed survey up Beaver valley, seen as feasible by experts and supported by locals and surrounding counties.
A two day prairie fire swept North Flats from Friday through Saturday, scorching range and some crops and hay. It started near Cimarron, crossed Beaver River, and burned east hay meadows though little stack hay was destroyed. A strong wind hampered firefighting, river and water bed aiding control. Another fire south of town destroyed more range near Six Mile with no reported feed losses.
Alva Marion Evans infant son of Mr and Mrs HM Evans of Hibbs died Tuesday after a week of illness from pneumonia. Rev Niles of Beaver will conduct the funeral today with interment in Floris cemetery. The family and many friends extend sympathy.
Notion announces dissolution of LaBelle and Jackson partnership. Mr Jackson retires. All indebted parties should settle with LaBelle at the usual stand. Dated February 14 to February 21. Signed FB LaBelle and CB Jackson.
A letter received by Walter Fraser, Beaver Agent, from Des Moines Iowa Insurance Co president C. H. Finley dated February Std, states that at the writer's home this morning the thermometer showed 17 degrees and he saw zero.
