A fragmentary update describes work on a railroad grade near Beaver County, with dirt moved on the Stub line to a point west of the O. J. Lootbourrow home. The grade will extend to the Arroyo, bringing Beaver County into prominence as machinery roars, crews toil, and progress on the line draws near.
Wichita interests backed by local business leaders push for Missouri Pacific and Santa Fe extensions from Englewood to Beaver and from Hardtner to Buffalo Oklahoma. Plans call for a 85 mile diagonal route, new towns along the line, and a Beaver County link to connect with Wichita Falls and Northwestern rail to divert freight and trade to Wichita.
Miss Mary Errett longtime Beaver resident and widow of J Errett, who once served as county superintendent of schools, has married a Mr Cederberg of California. Local old settlers extend best wishes for happiness and prosperity, with a note on a delayed communication about the National Benin Carn Growers’ Newsletter distribution to appear next week.
Mrs J E George of Liberal Kansas died in Excelsior Springs Missouri Friday January 10 19 after an illness of long duration. She was beloved by family and friends for her gentle spirit and steadfast faith. Her body was brought to Liberal for burial with services at the First Christian church. Interment followed in Fairlawn cemetery as a large crowd mourned the loss of a devoted wife mother and neighbor. Her passing leaves a deep void in church lodge and community life.
