A minor fire broke out at the Braidwood residence when weeds and trash near the wash house ignited and spread to a corner of the house. Prompt family and neighbor intervention prevented further damage.
News arrived of the death of a brother of Mrs I N Edwards of Lake who was killed in an auto accident in Oklahoma City. Beaver friends extend sympathy to Mrs Edwards and her relatives J M Seawell and wife, formerly of this county, now in Oklahoma City.
The Liat list shows winners of a £2.50 gold piece promotion by Cady Land Co at Beaver Heights last week. Winners include Lee Hulse Clyde Jones Mrs. H. P. Williams Miss Clwen Stephenton and others. A corner lot prize went to Mrs J A Miller. A fire destroyed Mr T K Williamson’s feed yard but extinguished before night. loss about $100.00 amid feed scarcity.
A contract was let for a Magnolia Oil Company station on the indenteral tract by B. M. and B. The Beaver Produce House reports loading poultry while farmers move a large supply of turkeys and chickens to market. The piece notes local business activity and welcomes Magnolia to Beaver.
The Probet Grain Company adds a large new corn bin to its extensive storage quarters. The 15 foot high structure will hold substantial grain to supply feeders in the region. Company officials express pride in expansion as evidence of strong business conditions.
A White House Hotel guest reports a thief took a young turkey cooling for Thanksgiving. Dad Mansfield recovered a replacement and the family enjoyed a festive dinner with neighbors and local friends.
A planned Thanksgiving surprise turned serious when a Ford veered into a ditch near Beaver. Mea Frances Stoner and J W Peek of Fargo were among four hurt when the steering gear failed. The Stoner mother suffered a broken arm and serious bruises. others were shaken but recovering at home.
The Social Hour Club hosted a delightful evening for husbands and guests at Attorney A. S. Dickson’s home on Friday. Games included Progressive Rock Rummy Round-up and Touring with J W Colwell and Mrs Ed Humphrey winning high score and Clit Drom and W H Robertson taking the consolation prize. A two-source luncheon was served to attendees including Messrs Culwell Peckham Loofbourraw B W and Art Quinn Ed Humphrey Crabtree Hill Pratt Deum Riclay Robertson Dickeon and Misses Maude Thomas and Eric Crabtree.
It is evident the order has five members on duty constantly as new members are secured. At Tuesday night’s meeting six new members were conferred and eight applications were received. The Lodges will soon undertake work by request for Hooker and Vint Lodges.
The Beaver Choral Glau will present a benefit program at the M E Church Thursday night December tenth. The program features diverse acts including Lorena Cain, Reed, and several ensembles with captions such as Flying Jims Lat Leap, Reading Mien, and the National Emblem. Members of the chorus include Feese Hodge Emberson Hall Ellis Stranathan Drom Twyford and many others.
