Young man visits Savage home with Mabry military honor

An unnamed young man arrived at Mr. and Mrs. E. Savage of the Gavage Cash store. He is said to bear the name Lieutenant Mabry in honor of Sayage’s brothers Lieuts Harry and John Mabry, who have just been commissioned lieutenants in Field Artillery, U. S. Reserves.

Jungle Joy Show thrills gray with full houses at The Globe

The Jungle Joy Show at The Globe drew full houses with standing room only. The act featured a cannibal performer and received praise for being clean and entertaining. Red Cross efforts by Gray residents raised 147.00 at a Thanksgiving social, with pies selling for 12.00 and 8.00.

Patriotic Rally Honors Local Lieuts Back From Camp

A Tuesday night patriotic rally at the Court House honored Lieuts Mabry Smith and Healy returning from camp. Judge Leofhourrow presided as speakers praised duty and patriotism in khaki uniforms. Residents of Beaver express pride and congratulations to the officers.

Forgan Branch Red Cross salvages flour after wreck

The Forgan Branch of Beaver County Chapter American Red Cross assisted after the Wichita Falls Railway wreck. Volunteers sacked and saved over 300 flour sacks, mended torn bags, and sold the salvaged flour for 123.40 dollars. Proceeds supported railroad relief efforts and Red Cross headquarters praised the effort.

Moneer Cemetery Association Forms at Beaver

After years of delay the needed cemetery association is organized and Beaver’s Pioneer Cemetery Association is incorporated with EB. L. Fickel as president Jessie Mae Fickel as secretary treasurer and J. H. Crabtree and J. W. Webb as members. The land homestead of Mrs Fickel was purchased by the group and surveyed this week. Occupied and vacant lots may be bought after survey completion.

The C M Light Grain Co has completed extensive improvements at their elevator including a 10 by 40 ware room for handling flour feed weed and other sacked products. The company reports growing trade with Graham and rye bread every Wednesday and fresh cream malt bread daily at Cayler's Meat.

New Herald Subscription Rates Take Effect in 1917

The Herald announces a new yearly rate of 1.60 inside Beaver County and 2.00 outside. Paid-in-advance subscribers won’t pay extra until their period expires. Delinquents are urged to renew, or future issues to out of county addresses will be discontinued after January 1, 1918.
