Local editors Mandy and Thomas report new items via ENG news boxes. Readers urged to submit notices by Wednesday for timely publication. Mandy returned from a Colorado trip visiting mountains and Gold Rush locales, enjoying Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, Cripple Creek, and surrounding counties.

A travel diary entry from Richfield Kansas on July 10 recounts a westward journey toward Stonington Colorado, noting miles of prairie ranches and the first mountain quail at Stonington. The party camps in a windy, old schoolhouse and reflects on the distant Twin Buttes and a quarry near Beaver while considering sending quail home.
The Beaver County Oklahoma Republican convention met August 20 1907 to elect officers adopt resolutions and nominate candidates for county and state offices. Delegates approved credentials rejected a contested seat and endorsed Roosevelt Frantz Ferguson Harris Whittaker and Pincher while urging equal school facilities and separate black and white schools.
Dr Sands, a practicing physician from Sand City in eastern Beaver County, received the nomination by acclamation for state representative at the Republican convention on Tuesday. A longtime county resident with wide local ties, he moved from Iowa to Oklahoma ten years ago and has lived in Beaver County four and a half years. He had never sought office before and did not seek it this time, agreeing only the day before the convention to allow his name to be used at the urging of many friends.

The Herald News announces News Boxes at the Post Office Thompson Hotel White House and the District Clerk's office in the Court House for readers to place news items with signed names. A. L. Mansfield and wife of Hillsboro IIs depart for home this week after visiting Mrs Laughlin. Hubbard Mro's of the Liberal Independent visited Beaver last Saturday.
