Friends in Lockwood celebrate Frank Brown recovery after pneumonia and successful surgical removal of an tumor. He had been confined to bed for months and could not attend his father's death, but doctors urged operation and he has since improved enough to work. The St Louis RepublicSunday edition praised its comprehensive news sections and advertised subscription and dealer distribution.
Extensive preparations are underway for a Beaver County picnic at Hulut's Grove twelve miles southeast of Beaver on August 20 1901. The Beswer camp of Mode Woodmen promotes the event with foot races horse races walking potato sack and base ball games plus a declamation contest for children under ten. Prizes and refreshments are planned and organizers urge locals to locate in Beaver County for farming and grazing opportunities.
Mrs McShane of Beaver county died early Sunday after a two week illness. Born October 16 1962 in Stone county Missouri she moved with her parents to Arkansas later living in Lockwood before coming to Beaver county. Survived by three sisters two brothers and eight children four sons and four daughters. Funeral services were held Monday at the Presbyterian church with burial in Beaver cemetery.
